Throughout this time, Steven was there for me, always supportive. We continued to date, but took things slowly, as the therapist suggested.
He told me that when he'd come over on that Saturday night, he'd had a feeling that something was wrong, and that I needed help.
Sometime later, when
Steven was at my place one evening, I showed him
a poem that I had written a few years before.
"Well, look at this," he said. "You didn't climb that mountain, right?
Well, my last name is 'Sumlak' - summit ...lack....that's kind of weird." And it says here, "I did not make great
sums of cash" ...We laughed about it, and I told him he had a
good imagination. About a year later, we were married.
He insists that the poem is a kind of magic, that brought us together.
